David Campbell, Managing Director & Portfolio Manager
David began his career as a money market trainee for Schroders Australia in July 1983. He moved to the foreign exchange desk later that year as the Australian dollar was floated. He traded spot $A and $NZ during the often-volatile period of the mid-1980s. He took a position with Chemical Bank (predecessor to JP Morgan Chase and at the time no. 1 in the Euromoney rankings for FX) in London trading $A, $NZ and exotics. David spent some time at Chemical Frankfurt in 1989 before returning to Australia with Societe Generale. After a period of time in the Paris office, David became Chief Dealer in Societe Generale Sydney and then moved to Singapore to be Regional Head of FX in 1994. He returned to Australia in 1997 to run Chase Sydney’s FX operation and shortly thereafter became Managing Director responsible for all FX trading outside Japan. He left Chase in 2000 to do a variety of regional management roles with money broker Prebon Yamane, and left in 2005 to manage his own investments with the goal of setting up his own hedge fund. David set up Hunter Burton Capital in 2011 a managed discretionary account service focussing on currencies of the developed nations.
David founded Castle Rock Global Capital in October 2018
